Unexpected behavior from the Doberman
When Catherine finally settled on adopting a Doberman, she would least expect him to change his behavior, owing to the fact that he had a dark past. Or, could he be hallucinating of his dark past before he was rescued. You will soon find out the reason why.
Doberman could become dangerous unintentionally
Doberman can become dangerous sometimes but in the act of compassion towards their parents. For example, he can execute a little bite on your hand or jump high to lick your face, but all these actions for affection and attention, no ill motive. Of course, you should least expect a Doberman to be a dangerous dog.
Catherine adopted a Doberman to grow up with the baby
Catherine decided to adopt a dog to grow up with the baby. She wanted Charlotte to have a companion or a ‘partner in crime’ that’s why the Doberman came in handy to become her lifetime friend. She didn’t want her baby to grow up alone, but with a true friend. And she was confident the two would become true friends.
Khan found a true friend in a diaper-wearing baby
Catherine knew there would be some risks but trusted Charlotte would learn to live with it. She allowed Khan to share a room with the 17-month old Charlotte. She knew perfectly, no dog owner would guarantee a Doberman to behave 100%, say nothing of a formerly abused Khan. But she chose to trust him. Maybe she was right all along!
And she was indeed right to trust Khan
Things turned out ugly and thank God Khan was such a sensitive good dog. They were playing peacefully when the unexpected happened. And then, Khan put his life in danger to save Charlotte, her friend. An act that left Catherine to wonder why would Khan even dare to do such a thing to her daughter. Something was not adding up and she decided to find out why.
Khan grabbed the baby by her diaper
It was not usual for Khan to act fierce and angry. He grabbed the baby by her diaper and swayed her steps away. Charlotte was hurt but Catherine was wondering, what could have triggered such behavior from Khan. She ruled out the chances of Charlotte having provoked Khan in any way.
She knew instantly Khan was up to no good
She witnessed the whole bizarre incident while washing dishes from the kitchen. And she was wondering what was going on with Khan. After bushing the throwing the baby some yards onto the grass, Catherine thought that was already enough for the bad morning. To her surprise, she had to intervene as the scuffle between the two had just begun.
Charlotte didn't cry but was surprised
Not knowing what to do next, having fallen out with her friend, she thought, she stared at Khan, who was now frantically barking. And then he collapsed. Catherine was surprised to see Khan collapsing. She rushed to save her daughter and then Khan. She was confused to see Khan with bruises and none in her daughter. Then seeing Khan wreathing in pain, she knew something was wrong. She realized that Khan risked his life to save her daughter.
Khan needed to see the doctor immediately
She understood that Khan acted selflessly to save his friend from the venomous animal who was living in the backyard without Catherine’s knowledge. Were it not for the dog’s selflessness, her daughter could be the victim and things could have gone really bad real fast. She knew she has to save him by all means.
Khan needed emergency medical attention
Khan had stayed with his new family for a few days and now he was on the verge of dark moments. Only his actions to save Charlotte would become memories for Catherine and her daughter. But deep inside they prayed hard for things to turn out in their favor, he wanted a chance to personally say thank you to their hero. His life was hanging in the air after his benevolent act to save his innocent friend with whom they were just getting to know each other.
Khan got medical attention
Khan got poisoned and his life was hanging in the air. It was a poisonous venom that could as well kill any other animal small or big. Catherine was terrified, but she had to save her hero of the day. She rushed the adopted do to the pet hospital as fast as she could where he got admitted.
Catherine could not afford to panic, at least not now!
She did what she had to do to save the life of her hero. She handed over the little girl and got involved in the lifesaving act. Although his condition was not promising it was no time to lose hope in her boy. Despite Khan looking already dead with the tongue hanging out, she kept her faith that everything is going to be alright.
She rushed her boy to the vet
She felt her pulse beating hard and she was hopeful, things could not get out of hand. She was optimistic that God was on her side to save Khan. Although she knew nothing about venom, she kept hope alive that Khan would get out of danger as soon as possible.
Hit on the road like crazy
Catherine decided to save her hero, Khan for putting his life in line to save her little Charlotte. She wasn’t in her right mind driving recklessly and one might wonder, how did she manage to maneuver through the traffic jam without a hitch? It’s adrenaline in action and the urge to save the life of her hero.
She cut through the wind
After a reckless rush to the hospital, as soon as she slammed the breaks, there came Catherine screaming for help. The doctors and nurses came to her aid and in no time, Khan was put on a hospital bed and under the drip. Everyone worked hard to save the life of an ailing dog, almost dead.

Flashback of what transpired at the garden
Catherine felt unconditional love for the dog who saved her daughter from danger put him in line. He lifted Khan, only God knows how. If you asked her to lift him now, it would be almost impossible. Thanks to her protective instincts that inspires somebody to do the unimaginable.
She owed him
Catherine felt she was indebted and wanted Khan to pull through as soon as possible. At that moment every one of her family felt like Khan was part of the family and received equal treatment as anyone would. Khan was referred to the emergency room some 30 minutes later. Things didn't seem good, but Catherine held on to the hope of seeing Khan alive again. Catherine was restless wanting to know the state of her hero, she asked a lot of questions some went unanswered. But she was not relenting.
Doctor’s answer
It was unclear whether Khan would live or not, but there was hope. She kept on praying for the best for Khan with the help of her family. The doctors did what they had to do, what they know is that the anti-venom would help but not sure to what extent. She was asked to come back the following day. That’s what she expected but she wanted so much to hear something more than that.
Sleepless nights
Emotions took a toll on her nerves and she had sleepless nights. She felt guilt and indebted, if Khan won't survive, she would be devastated and feeling guilty because she was not there for her daughter when she needed her and then someone else had to pay the price, and not just any price, but with their life.
The following day
Finally, the night passed, one that seemed the longest, like two nights combined. First thing in the morning she was at the hospital door. She wanted to find out what happened over the night and hopeful that Khan had improved. She wanted to know the truth as soon as possible.
She was living with a dangerous animal
Catherine discovered what almost killed Khan and Charlotte. It was a mulga, one of the most dangerous snakes in the world. The same snake that would have killed Khan or paralyzed her and Charlotte. Without Khan, Catherine or Charlotte would have been in the emergency room.

Catherine discovered what almost ruined her family was it not for Khan. It is a long brown snake that moves slowly through the grass. It's now clear, Khan was not attacking Charlotte, on the contrary, she was bringing her to safety while putting himself in danger to save the little girl.

Mulga is an example of how dangerous wildlife in Australia can be. This snake can take down other animals within minutes whether small or large. Charlotte’s chances of survival would be slim if she had come in contact with the mulga because her bloodstream would quickly be filled with venom. Thanks to Khan, an innocent life was saved.
Will Khan survive the venom?
The life of the Doberman was hanging in the air, but whatever happens to him, this family will forever be indebted to him for putting his life in line to save Charlotte. When the 17-months old was in danger, Khan gathered the courage to pick her by the diaper and toss her to safety. At first, it seemed cruel of him but now it is clear that it was an act of compassion.

The family didn’t know what to expect. Will it be a homecoming or a funeral for Khan, the wonder dog. All along, Catherine knew she could not repay khan for his kindness for saving her daughter if he wouldn’t come back home alive. At least he came back home alive.

He had already gone through a lot in his life and now he had returned the favor to the family who rescued him from the shelter. He was hardly a member of this family, yet he risked his life for Charlotte. He will forever remain in their hearts for taking such a risk.

When Catherine went to the shelter she was not sure whether to take him. He was severely abused by his previous owner, his ribs were broken, and the shelter man didn’t know whether to keep him or put him down. Luckily, they decided to take him. And see what he has done to Catherine’s family!

After a while, Catherine wanted to know what was going down with Khan. She called the vet because all she wanted for Khan was love and affection. The vet came by and explained everything concerning Khan's life and she was glad Khan would resume living a normal life again.

Catherine received some good news about Khan, he was getting better day by day. He is still weak, but out of danger. However, he might become paralyzed because of the venom. At this time, Catherine breathed a sigh of relief. His life would no longer be the same again.

Catherine was assured that Khan would recover, regardless of whether fully or not, she was relieved of worries in her head. According to a snake expert, Khan would fully recover because the snake didn't manage to inject a lot of venom into him, otherwise, he would not have survived!
