Do you feel jealous of youngsters who never gain weight and always look slim and trip without starving or dieting? You can get the metabolism of a very young person if you do the following things:
1. Increase your protein intake
Eat plenty of lean protein if you want your metabolism to run at a greater speed. Add some fish, meat or milk products every time you have a meal. Experts agree that diets that contain sufficient amounts of protein are easier to follow. Besides, they give better results. Dieters who eat protein feel fuller for longer. Too much protein is not advised – on average, an individual needs no more than 30 grams of protein per meal. Your body will not be able to utilize more than that even if you lead an active lifestyle.
2. Mindful eating
Avoid mindless eating. Instead of wolfing down your food while watching a movie or playing a computer game, savor your dishes if your goal is a balanced weight. Fast eaters won’t allow their brains enough time to receive the right signal telling you that you are full. It takes at least 20 minutes for the hormone called cholecystokinin to deliver the signal. Before you realize you have consumed too much food, your plate is empty. Get rid of the habit of doing other things when consuming food.

3. Have a cup of tea or coffee

Caffeine is a powerful stimulant. Coffee boosts your metabolism up to 8%. Tea is even more effective and speeds up the process by 10%. Green tea is a great beverage since it contains catechins which help to lose fat. Experts recommend you should drink 4 cups of tea daily if you wish to burn between 50 and 100 calories. The rule does not apply to tea and coffee that you drink with cream or sugar. Tea and coffee drinks sold at stores do not count either. Drink pure tea and natural coffee.

4. Stay active even at your desk
Keep moving even if you are in your office. There is no need to be a member of a gym. You can speed up your metabolism by doing a lot of various things while sitting at your desk. Fidgeting is not a bad thing if your mission is to burn calories. The more movement you involve, the more fat you burn. Do not spend your whole day sitting. Set a timer and take a brief walk every now and then around your office. Perform a few squats and turn your sedentary lifestyle into something less passive. Small things add up and, as a result, you continue to lose weight.

5. Commute in a different way
Make changes in various areas of your life. After you have adjusted your diet and improved your eating habits, it’s time for you to pay attention to the way you commute. If your commute is long, it is very possible that your sleeping and eating patterns become worse. People who commute long distances tend to do less sport. Also, they are likely to eat more unhealthy foods. This happens due to lack of time. Make changes and ride your bike or walk to work if the distance is not too long and weather conditions are good. If not, then bike or walk at least for part of the way.
