Steven Spielberg had always wanted to make a movie about the competition between the 2 biggest American newspapers —The New York Times and The Washington Post. The main characters are played by Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks and in the movie, they fight for the right to shed light on state secrets. Seeing as how these 2 never make mistakes when choosing interesting characters, it’s almost a guaranteed good time.

Annihilation

4 women, a psychologist, a biologist, a survivor, and an anthropologist go to the mysterious and uncharted Area X. This is the place where very few people return from, and if they do, they are very different. This is how the story of one of the most anticipated movies of the year starts. It is based on a bestselling book. Natalie Portman plays the main part, and the director is Alex Garland who wrote and directed the sci-fi movie Ex Machina.

Deadpool 2

The anti-superhero in a red suit returns to the big screen again. Ryan Reynolds’s character is trying to get used to the new way of life while also fighting a few bad guys. The hero will continue to make silly jokes and say bad words so it’s going to be rated R again.

Incredibles 2

This summer, 14 years after the first part, Pixar is going to release the long-awaited sequel about the adventures of the Parr family. They will have to solve a lot of family problems and save the world again, and we don’t know which is going to be harder. The main character of the animation will be Elastigirl, and there will be many more new superheroes.

The details of the movie about the adventure of young Han Solo and Chewbacca are kept top secret. It was extremely hard to find an actor for the main role. Almost as hard as it was to find an actor for the role of Christian Gray in 50 Shades of Gray. But the main female role is going to be played by Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys from Game of Thrones.

Premiere date: May 23, 2018

Ocean’s 8

The Ocean’s 11 spin-off will only have female actresses in the main roles. And they are really good — Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Katie Holmes, Dakota Fanning and even singer Rihanna. Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney) sister Debbie is released from prison and is planning a new heist. We’ll see what these bad girls will do and whether or not this movie will get a sequel.

Premiere date: June 7, 2018

Mary Queen of Scots

Mary Stuart has been played by so many actresses already that this role has only become even more interesting. This time the director of the movie is theater director Josie Rourke. The movie is about the competition between Stuart and Elizabeth I. Mary will be played by Saoirse Ronan and Margo Robbie will be Elizabeth I. By the way, her photos from the set in full makeup have already impressed fans.

Premiere date: October 5, 2018

The Girl in the Spider’s Web

This is the long-awaited sequel (or rather a reload) of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo that tells the story of hacker Lisbeth Salander. In this adaptation, the cast will be completely different. Instead of Rooney Mara who played Salander in the first part, there will be Claire Foy, who you might know as Elizabeth II from The Crown. And Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason will replace Daniel Craig.

Premiere date: October 5, 2018

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

One of the most anticipated movies of the year (and especially for all Harry Potter fans) is the next part of Newton Scamander’s adventures. This time, the wizard will go looking for the evil wizard Grindelwald (who is played by Johnny Depp) as Albus Dumbledore requested. The latter will be played by Jude Law, and this is probably the biggest reason why we should all see this movie.
