The special photo has a remarkable story behind it, one that dates back years ago. Jill was 34 at the time, and Ben was 36. The two lovers were school sweethearts that fell in love and committed to each other from a young age.

Jill realized her son’s life was more important than her sight, and she decided to continue with the pregnancy.

Eventually, they reached the forty-day mark, and Jill went into labor. While Ben and Bruno were outside, they both heard Jill shout, announcing it was time to go to the hospital…
A happy family
As Ben found himself in the waiting room yet again, he was not alone this time. Bruno, loyal and loving, kept him company and eased his nerves.
Eventually, after 6 hours, the doctor came to congratulate Ben on his perfectly healthy child. Ben and Jill were both overjoyed – their happy family was now complete.
However, the doctor had more news in store for the couple…good news.
An unexpected turn
Labor caused Jill’s uterus to contract, which relieved the pressure from the tumor. As a result, her vision was restored! The doctors acted quickly and surgically removed the tumor.
Ben and Jill were overjoyed – their child was perfectly healthy, and Jill could see clearly again! Bruno seemed to join in on their excitement with a loud bark.
But when the loyal dog proceeded to collapse on the cold floor, the couple realized that it was far from a happy bark…

Ben and Jill faced a harsh reality: as quickly and miraculously as new life came, old souls could leave just as suddenly.
The doctor calmly informed the couple that the dog was dead, and asked if he was old. Jill told the doctor that Bruno was indeed old – he was a loyal friend to her who helped Jill and Ben through a difficult pregnancy.
Although Jill and Ben had a new member in their family, they also lost a valuable loved one.

The doctor explained to the distraught couple that guide dogs are especially loyal to their masters. He explained that Bruno must have pushed himself to stick around and support the family, despite being in pain and poor health.
